A DELEGATION FROM THE REPUBLIC OF MORDOVIA VISITS THE PEOPLE’S REPBLIC OF CHINA
August 5-8, the representatives of the Republic of Mordovia visited the People’s Republic of China together with the Russian delegation headed by Mikhail Babich – Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District. In the framework of the visit, members of the delegation participated in events related to the development of interregional relations in «Volga-Yangtze» format which took place in the city of Wuhan (Hubei Province) and the city of Chengdu (Sichuan Province).
During the central event, which was the Fourth round-table meeting of the Governors of Volga Federal District and Upper middle reaches of Yangtze River, Vladimir Sushkov – Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Mordovia – gave the presentation on the region. The Republic of Mordovia was also represented by the delegates from Mordovia Development Corporation and “Lisma” State Unitary Enterprise. Among other things, the event program included a visit to the exhibition of achievements in trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the Russian and Chinese regions, bilateral communication of business community of two countries, presentations of trade, economic, investment and cultural potential of the regions, a visit to innovative sites of the city of Chengdu and etc.
Together with the colleagues from China, the delegates from Mordovia participated in the closing ceremony of Russian-Chinese Young Generation Forum.
As a result of the visit, Agreements on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian spheres were signed between the Government of the Republic of Mordovia and People’s Government of Hubei Province as well as People’s Government of the city of Chongqing. Several agreements on investment projects were signed by Mordovia Development Corporation.
The “Volga-Yangtze” format was established in 2013 with the support of the Heads of two States as a new opportunity for interregional relations and now it associates 14 regions of Volga Federal District an 5 provinces and 1 city of Upper middle reaches of Yangtze river, PRC.
