AGRO-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX OF MORDOVIA INCREASES PRODUCTION VOLUMES AND CONQUERS EXTERNAL MARKET
During the visit of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich to Mordovia on June 21-22 there was held a meeting on the development of Agro-Industrial Complex. The meeting took place in Torbeevo district in Talina group.
Mikhail Babich pointed out that in spite of some signs of a crisis, entrepreneurs from Mordovia are on firm ground.
Participants of the meeting visited Atyashevskiy meat-processing plant. It was opened in 2015. Now the production capacity is 160 thousand tons of products per year and the planned capacity is 220 thousand tons. This year the plant will increase its production volume by 45 per cent.
Speaking about the Agro-Industrial Complex, interim head of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov noted that the republic not only provides its population with the most necessary food products, but also sells more than 60 per cent of food products out of the region. 10 per cent of Russian cheeses and flowers are produced in Mordovia and in the near future, the number will be doubled.
Enterprises of Mordovia are actively expanding their presence at the external market. 10 companies have already received export licenses and four more are in the process.
According to Vladimir Volkov, agriculture gives 13 per cent of gross regional product. One in five economically active people work for Agro-Industrial Complex. For the last five years over 40 billion rubles were put up in the development of agriculture of the republic. Agricultural production rate has grown to 120 per cent. Average salary in agriculture has grown twice and now it is 21,400 rubles.
Mordovia is one of the top 5 regions of Russia concerning meat, eggs and milk production per capita (506 liters of milk, 345 kilos of meat and 1,760 eggs).
Some problems were also discussed during the meeting. Mikhail Babich has promised to consider proposals of the republic attentively in cooperation with federal ministries.
