ENTERPRISE OF THE REPUBLIC OF MORDOVIA LISMA IS THE LARGEST MANUFACTURER OF LAMPS IN RUSSIA AND CIS COUNTRIES

The capital of Mordovia Saransk, which was famous as “a capital of light” in Soviet times, has regained the status of lighting industry center. As a result of the first half of 2017, the share of LISMA State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Mordovia on the Russian market varies from 26 to 54% with the items.

The range of products manufactured at Lisma exceeds 300 items. The enterprise produces one in three lamps in Russia and its objective is to produce one in two.

It is not so long ago that the flagship of Mordovia’s industry was going through tough times. The situation changed when Lisma was passed in the ownership of the republic.

Speaking about the plans for the industry development, interim Head of the Republic of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov noted that Mordovia is the leader in Russia regarding the share of innovative products in general industrial output, which is measured 28%. As for the lighting industry, the share is almost 50%.

To maintain the position of Mordovia on the lighting market, five years ago it was decided to create a cluster. Now there are 43 enterprises including Lisma. Creation of the cluster resulted in 2,000 new jobs and 5 billion rubles attracted to the industry. The enterprises have manufactured products for more than 28 billion rubles.

For five years labour productivity in lighting industry of Mordovia has grown more than twice. In 2016 it was 1,200 thousand rubles per capita.

In October 2016 the innovative cluster of the Republic of Mordovia “Lighting engineering and optoelectronic instrument making” was one of the winners of competition organized by Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. Today the cluster is the only center of excellences in lighting engineering, fiber optics and optoelectronics in Russia.

Lighting products from Saransk continue conquering external market. For example, in 2016 the share of export in the total volume of Lisma revenue was 18.5%. Relations are being established with partners in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Iran and CIS countries.

Lisma has recently established a joint venture in Burundi. The first goods worth 300 thousand US dollars were sent to the African country in June 2017. The joint venture is going to start its own production in October.
