FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS AGRARIAN COMPANIES OF MORDOVIA HAVE DOUBLED MEAT AND POULTRY PRODUCTION
For the last five years, the production output of meat and poultry has doubled in Mordovia. As the result of 2017, it is 295 thousand tons.
There are plans to increase this number by 10 to 15 thousand tons in 2018.
Head of the Republic of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov: “In 2012, we produced 145 thousand tons of meat. For the last five years, we have reached the results that once seemed impossible. We have doubled this number. Now we have an objective to produce up to 400 thousand tons of meat and poultry by 2022. The capacity of livestock breeding complexes being under construction will make it possible.”
Besides, in 2017 the dairy of Mordovia produced 420 thousand tons of milk. It was for the first time when the average milk yield per cow reached 6,000 kilos. The objective is to increase this indicator up to 6,200 kilos in 2018 and up to 7,000 kilos by 2022.
In spite of unfavorable weather conditions, the highest crop yield in Mordovia, 1,468 thousand tons, was got in 2017. This year the agrarians of the republic plan to produce 1.5 million tons of crop, which will fully supply the growing demand of livestock farming.
Vladimir Volkov: “We should solve the problem of high dependency of agriculture from imported seeds. The share of import for many seeds is 20 to 100%. The republic needs a system of seed centers. One of our main objectives in agriculture is to switch to the seeds produced in Russia.”
