IN MORDOVIA THERE WAS DISCUSSED THE SECOND CONSTRUCTION PHASE OF OPTIC FIBER PRODUCTION FACTORY
By March 15, 2018 the first factory of optic fiber production in Russia Optic Fiber Systems had manufactured two million kilometers of optic fiber. The production capacity of the factory is two and a half million kilometers per year. Thus, the commercial production of almost all kinds of optiс fiber has become possible: for telecommunication cables, defense industry, enterprises with complex facilities and companies producing oil and gas.
The certificate of quality confirms competiveness of the optic fiber produced in Mordovia in every respect. At the same time, high demand for the product in the global market confirms its high quality.
Andrey Nikolaev, CEO of Optic Fiber Systems pointed out that there is a shortage of optic fiber in the Russian and global markets and there is high demand for the product. The factory could double its production capacity, but now they have to buy preforms abroad.
Development of the Saransk factory was discussed during the meeting with the participation of representatives of Sumitomo Electric Industries. This Japanese company supplies preforms for optic fiber production in Russia. The company can participate in the second phase of the factory’s construction.
Head of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov: The Russian market of optic fiber is growing. We are going to increase the production capacity to four million kilometers per year. During our meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin we discussed the set-up of full cycle of optic fiber production in Mordovia. It is the production of preforms and pure quartz. The President noted that this project will be supported at the federal level.
