MORDOVIA EXPANDS COOPERATION WITH IRAN

The delegation of the Republic of Mordovia continues to work on the site of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - 2023. The main tasks are to develop cooperation between the region and strategic and new partners.

According to the official portal of the state authorities of the Republic of Mordovia, on June 14, a meeting was held between Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Mordovia Batyr Emeev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Russia Kazem Jalali. The parties discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation between Mordovia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the organization of the upcoming visit of Kazem Jalali to Mordovia. The Iranian Ambassador to Russia expressed the interest of Iranian entrepreneurs in mutual trade cooperation with our republic, in particular in the field of agriculture and industry. Particular attention was paid to the prospects of cooperation in the field of mechanical engineering.

A working group will be created in the republic, which will include representatives of all ministries and departments of the region interested in cooperation with Iran, as well as the Ogarev Mordovia State University.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Mordovia Natalia Tarkaeva, Acting Minister of Economy, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Mordovia Ivan Gorin, Minister of Land and Property Relations of the Republic of Mordovia Andrey Mishchenko and Rector of the Ogarev Mordovia State University Dmitry Glushko.

Recall that in 2022, Russia entered the top five foreign economic partners of Iran with a trade turnover of 4.86 billion US dollars, which is 20.2% higher than the same figures of the previous year. The trade turnover of the Republic of Mordovia with the Islamic Republic of Iran by the end of 2022 amounted to about 1.6 million US dollars.

The meeting took place at the stand of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR). Within the framework of the forum, more than 70 business meetings and signings of agreements in the field of economy and territorial development are planned at the AIRR site. The Republic of Mordovia has been a member of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia since 2010.
