MORDOVIA IS IN TOP-10 INNOVATIVE REGIONS OF RUSSIA
Mordovia was included in the top 10 Russian regions - leaders of innovative development. Based on the results of the annual rating compiled by experts from the Higher School of Economics (HSE), the republic takes the eighth place among the regions with the highest indicators of innovative development.
The leader of the rating Tatarstan is followed by Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Top10 also includes Nizhniy Novgorod region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Kaluga region, the Chuvash Republic, Tomsk region and Krasnoyarsk region.
Experts assessed the regions with regards of innovative climate, scientific and technological potential, the results of innovative activity and the quality of innovation policy.
At the same time, Mordovia was recognized as the absolute leader in Russia with regards to the innovation activity indicator. According to the authors of the study, it is the high effectiveness of innovation activity that ensures Mordovia's leading position.
So, as a result of 2016, share of innovative products in general output of goods and services in Mordovia is 28.3% which is three times more than the average in Russia.
Another distinction is a remarkable novelty level of Mordovia production. 7.2% of products made in the republic are ranked new for the market. For reference, the average indicator in Russia is less than 1%.
