MORDOVIA IS ONE OF THE TOP 5 REGIONS OF RUSSIA DUE TO ECONOMIC GROWTH RATE
In 2016 Mordovia’s gross regional product was 209.6 billion rubles, which is 5.2% higher than that of 2015. In general, 51 Russian regions have shown the growth of economy. The leader is the Jewish Autonomous Region, whose gross regional product has grown by 7.1%. In the top 5 there are also the Republic of Crimea, Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the city of Sevastopol.
This year the authorities of Mordovia are going to keep the growth rate.
Interim Head of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov: “In spite of some difficulties, 2016 was rather successful for us. All the branches of economy showed positive dynamics, the amount of investments remained as in 2015. Our strategy was based, first of all, on the development of economic and social areas. In 2017 and in the following years we are going to provide at least 5% growth of the gross regional product. Another aim of the authorities is to provide the growth of salary for population”.
