MORDOVIA SIGNS AN AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION WITH BELARUS

According to the press office of the Head of the Republic of Mordovia, the agreement provides for trade, economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation. The document has been signed by Interim Head of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko.

Vladimir Volkov noted that the Republic of Belarus and Mordovia have a long-standing friendship. In 2014 the delegation from Mordovia visited Belarus. During the visit, the Head of the republic had a meeting with the President Alexander Lukashenko and attended several principal events in Minsk.

According to Vladimir Volkov, today the third part of Mordovia’s trade turnover with CIS countries is the turnover with Belarus. Over 30 companies of Mordovia cooperate with the country. They export cable, rubber goods, electrical and semiconductor products, aluminum, cement, confectionaries. Partners from Belarus supply equipment, machines, plastics materials and products.

More than a half of agricultural machinery in Mordovia has been made in Belarus. Besides, since 2011 there are the buses of Minsk Automobile Plant in Saransk that are run as public transport. In February 2017 50 buses were delivered to the capital of Mordovia to carry passengers during FIFA World Cup 2018.
