MORDOVIAN LIGHTING ENGINEERS WILL START PRODUCING MEDICAL GLASS
Lisma, a lighting company from Mordovia, that is considered to be the largest producer of lighting equipment in Russia, will start producing medical glass. A new investment project, launched at the plant by Interpharmglass company, will not only help in saving the brand, but it will also help staff to keep their jobs and to create new ones.
According to Interpharmglass President Timur Sharipov, the Saransk plant is currently being integrated into a glass and pharmaceutical packaging production holding formation project. At the moment more than 60 percent of medical glass in Russia is imported.
“Interpharmglass plans to create a modern high-tech production of these products on Lisma plant and take a leading position in the country,” said Sharipov.
Lisma CEO Igor Konstantinov explained that the program for the further development of the enterprise includes three new areas: the manufacture of medical containers (ampoules, vials, syringes), the production of medical glass and the development of new types of glasses, as well as the production of glass pipes for the oil refining industry. As for traditional lighting technology, investors have confirmed their willingness to invest in it and allocated funds for production modernization.
