THE MORDOVIAN BOG OAK WILL BE HARVESTED ACCORDING TO THE RUSSIAN NATIONAL STANDARD (GOST) THAT HAS BEEN APPROVED
Rosstandart has announced the registration of a preliminary national standard for the procurement of bog oak (referred to as subfossil wood in the document). This is the world's first document on standardization establishing requirements for such wood. The uniqueness of the “black diamond” was one of the reasons for creating a separate document.
According to the press service of the Head of the Republic of Mordovia, the new GOST applies to procurement from subfossil oak wood. The document includes specific requirements for materials, the wood drying process, packaging and labeling of bog oak, as well as rules for its transportation and storage. The approved standard establishes the basic technical requirements and will serve as a basis for the development of other regulatory documents in the field of extraction and processing of the “black diamond”.
The standard “Procurement from Subfossil Oak Wood (Bog Oak)” will come into effect on April 1, 2024, and its trial period will extend until May 31, 2025.
