TRADE TURNOVER BETWEEN MORDOVIA AND BELARUS HAS REACHED THE HIGHEST LEVEL SINCE 2016

On October 18, a meeting of the working group on cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Mordovia of the Russian Federation was held in Minsk. It was attended by representatives of the Government of Belarus and members of the delegation of Mordovia, including the Head of Mordovia Artyom Zdunov, Deputy Prime Ministers Natalya Tarkaeva, Insaf Khairullin, Batyr Emeev, heads of most ministries of the Republic.

Minister of Taxes and Duties of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Nalivaiko emphasized that the meeting is aimed at expanding interaction between the territories. “Our trade turnover is increasing from year to year, in 8 months we have grown by 170% compared to last year,” he noted. “The areas of interaction are changing, but they are working stably on the Belarusian side – the petrochemical sector, and on the Mordovia side – electrical products.”

Vladimir Voronkovich, Senior Adviser to the branch of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation in Nizhny Novgorod, noted: “Our bilateral trade turnover reached the highest level since 2016 in 2022. And based on the results of the first half of this year, it has already exceeded 2022. This proves that we have reserves and opportunities to further increase trade turnover.”

One of the promising areas is cooperation in the supply of Mordovian optical fiber to Belarus. Recall that Mordovia is the only region producing optical fiber on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.

As Artyom Zdunov noted, cooperation will also be carried out in the field of construction materials, the production of medicines from blood plasma, the production of RDF fuel and many other areas. At the same time, cooperation will include not only the production agenda.

As a result of the joint meeting of the working group, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Mordovia.
