VEB.RF AND SBERBANK HAVE LAUNCHED AN INTERACTIVE ESG INDEX FOR CITIES AND REGIONS OF RUSSIA
VEB.RF and Sberbank have prepared an interactive ESG index for cities and regions to help them address their strategic development tasks through the lens of environmental, social and governance responsibility. This initiative aims to create a new convenient platform for sharing experiences in the successful implementation of sustainable development projects. The index includes data on 16 comprehensive factors grouped into three blocks: Environment (Environmental), Society (Social), and Governance (Governance). The number of indicators within one factor does not affect its weight, as the final score reflects the average value across the components.
The analysis covers data in sustainable development areas such as green energy, environmental protection management, water and forest resources, education, culture, accessible environment, investment climate, level of digitalization, development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and others.
The ESG index for the year 2023 covers 85 subjects of the Russian Federation and 218 cities of the country. The study presents the top 20 cities and regions with high indicators of sustainable development across all three ESG components, as well as leaders in individual directions.
