IN MORDOVIA, THE UTILIZATION OF PRODUCTION CAPACITIES IN INDUSTRY AND CONSTRUCTION HAS INCREASED

The capacity utilization in the Russian economy reached historical highs by the end of 2023. This is stated in the March issue of the report by the Bank of Russia “Regional Economy: Comments by the Main Department”. Analysts from the regulator note that the level of production utilization was influenced by increased demand for domestic products. In Mordovia, according to surveys conducted by the Bank of Russia, capacity utilization in the fourth quarter of 2023 reached 89%. In particular, it increased over the year for industrial enterprises and construction organizations.

THE MINISTRY OF ECONOMY OF MORDOVIA HAS PRESENTED MEASURES TO SUPPORT THE FORESTRY COMPLEX

A working meeting on the topic “Development of organizations in the forestry complex of the Republic of Mordovia” was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Mordovia. The event was attended by representatives of government bodies, the Deputy Commissioner for the Protection of Entrepreneurial Rights in the Republic of Mordovia, and forest plot lessees. It should be noted that in the forestry and logging sector of Mordovia, there are currently around 30 organizations employing 559 people, almost a third of whom work in small and medium-sized businesses.

THE MINISTRY OF CONSTRUCTION OF RUSSIA HAS IDENTIFIED CITIES WITH FAVORABLE URBAN ENVIRONMENTS

The results of the calculation of the Urban Environment Quality Index for the year 2023 have been published. 36 different indicators were evaluated, including housing, public and business infrastructure, social and leisure infrastructure, adjacent spaces, green areas, waterfronts, street infrastructure, and urban public spaces. For the urban environment to be considered favorable, the quality index should exceed 180 points.

THIS YEAR, THE BUSINESS SECTOR IN MORDOVIA PLANS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF PREFERENTIAL MICROLOANS AND GUARANTEES

Since the beginning of last year, subjects of small and medium-sized businesses in the republic have been granted 341 microloans totaling 736.9 million rubles, which exceeds the 2022 figure by 52.5 million rubles. An increase in the number of microloans issued is expected in 2024 as well. Thanks to the implementation of the national project “Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiative” the number of active microloans for SMEs will exceed five hundred. Additionally, subjects of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship are provided with guarantee support. The amount of guarantees for this year amounted to almost 452 million rubles.

THE GOVERNMENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION HAS SIMPLIFIED THE PROCEDURE FOR SUBMITTING NOTIFICATIONS OF THE COMMENCEMENT OF ENTREPRENEURIAL ACTIVITIES

On April 1, 2024, certain provisions of the Federal Law establishing a new procedure for notifying the commencement of entrepreneurial activities came into force. In accordance with this law, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia has developed a draft resolution, which has been approved by the Government of the Russian Federation. According to the Law, entrepreneurs (legal entities, individual entrepreneurs) can notify regulatory authorities about the start of their business without leaving their homes - through the Gosuslugi portal. To systematize and account for such notifications, a unified electronic register has been created.

THE CAPITAL OF MORDOVIA HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED AS A CITY OF ETHNOCULTURAL TOURISM

From March 28th to March 30th, the final of the First All-Russian Award “Tourist Cities” took place in Voronezh. Participants included 64 cities from 42 regions of the country. In the nomination “City of Ethnocultural Tourism”, the first place was awarded to the capital of Mordovia. Saransk presented ethnocultural tourism through the national tourist route called “Zov toramy”. The main part of the route passes through Saransk itself. Visitors to the region immerse themselves in the ethnic culture of Mordovia through excursions to museums, interactive programs at the National Drama Theater, and tastings of national cuisine.

A MEDICAL GLASS PRODUCTION FACILITY WITH A CAPACITY OF 7 THOUSAND TONS PER YEAR WILL BE LAUNCHED IN MORDOVIA

In Saransk, a new plant for the production of medical glass for the pharmaceutical industry will be established. The project will be implemented by the resident of the Special Economic Zone “Sistema” – LLC “Lisfarmsteklo” of the “Glass Decor” group of companies. The production capacity will amount to 7 thousand tons per year (up to 300 million vials and 900 million ampoules). The project's investment volume will be approximately 3.2 billion rubles. Around 200 jobs will be created as a result. The first workshops are planned to be launched as early as 2025.

MORDOVIAN STATE UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER N.P. OGAREV IS AMONG THE LEADING UNIVERSITIES IN RUSSIA ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL AGGREGATED RANKING

The independent education assessment portal best-edu.ru has published the sixth edition of the National Aggregated Ranking. It includes 686 Russian universities. Mordovian State University named after N.P. Ogarev has once again entered the TOP-25 universities of the Premier League. As reported by the university's press service, the National Aggregated Ranking is formed based on the results of 12 ratings, including the national university ranking by Interfax, ratings from “First Mission”, “Assessment of Education Quality”, “International Recognition”, “National Recognition”, RAEX university ratings; Hirsch Index rating, efficiency monitoring data, results of professional and public accreditation, Forbes, Superjob and HeadHunter ratings.

MORDOVIA DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ORGANIZED AN INDIVIDUAL PROMOTIONAL TOUR FOR THE TOUR OPERATOR

On March 26, Mordovia Development Corporation organized an individual promotional tour for the tour operator “Veter Stranstvij” in the Ardatovsky municipal district. The participants were accompanied by Sergey Kochevatov, the Head of the Center for Social Project Support and Tourist Programs. The participants of the trip visited tourist attractions, including the Mordovian cider factory “Kraj Zemli” the manufacturing enterprise “Violet” and the Ardatov lighting plant. During this trip, a meeting was held with the head of the district, Alexander Antipov. Opportunities for the development and promotion of the district in the tourist market were discussed.

TECHNOLOGICAL COMPANIES IN MORDOVIA HAVE RECEIVED OVER HALF A BILLION RUBLES IN FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Small technological companies in the country can receive up to 1 billion rubles through the preferential lending program of the federal project “Takeoff – from startup to IPO”. Launched two years ago, it is part of the national project “Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship”, initiated by the President of the Russian Federation and supervised by the First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov. As of now, there are currently two such companies in Mordovia. The total amount of financial support from the government amounted to 512 million rubles.

OVER THE YEAR, ABOUT THREE THOUSAND NEW REPRESENTATIVES OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES HAVE EMERGED IN MORDOVIA

Favorable loans, grants, as well as numerous non-financial support measures create favorable conditions for the growth of the number of SMEs in the republic. Thanks to the implementation of the national project “Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiative”, initiated by the President of the Russian Federation and supervised by the First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov, the number of SMEs by mid-March 2024 reached 24,113. Thus, compared to the same period last year, the growth exceeded 12%.
