An order has been signed by the Russian Government to write off part of Mordovia’s debt on budget loans
Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of Russia, signed an order to write off two‑thirds of the debt on budget loans, totalling 16.7 billion rubles, for 17 more regions. Mordovia is among them. The list also includes Dagestan, Kalmykia, the Khabarovsk Territory, the Amur, Astrakhan, Vologda, Kirov, Kostroma, Kursk, Murmansk, Penza, Pskov, Ryazan, and Sverdlovsk Regions, the Jewish Autonomous Region, and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
The amount written off corresponds to the volume of investments made by these regions in modernisation projects for the housing and utilities sector (including the replacement of elevator equipment in apartment buildings), the resettlement of citizens from dilapidated housing, the renewal of public transport, the additional capitalisation of industrial development funds, as well as in infrastructure projects to develop key populated areas and to support organisations managing territories with preferential tax regimes.
“The resources that will now become available in the regional budgets can be used to improve the quality of life for citizens and to support projects aimed at further economic growth in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation,” Mikhail Mishustin noted.
The Chairman of the Government emphasised that this work will continue in the future.
In 2025, 58 regions took advantage of the opportunity to have their budget loan debt written off, reducing their debt burden by approximately 230 billion rubles.
In 2026, debt has already been written off for 68 regions, with the total amount exceeding 277 billion rubles.
