ARTYOM ZDUNOV AND DMITRY CHERNYSHENKO DISCUSSED INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS AND ISSUES OF IMPORT SUBSTITUTION IN THE REGION

A working meeting between Head of Mordovia Artyom Zdunov and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko took place in Moscow. They discussed the inclusion of infrastructure projects in the program of socio-economic development of the region and import substitution issues.

In Mordovia, there is the only serial production of telecommunication optical fiber in Russia - JSC «Optic fiber systems». Its transition to full-cycle technology was discussed during the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister to the republic in October 2021. The transition implies the rejection of the use of foreign raw materials in favor of domestic.

“Optical fiber is one of the key materials in the IT field. Now the plant is operating at its maximum and meets the needs of the country by 50%, and in the current situation it is necessary to increase import substitution at the enterprise. I support the plans of Mordovia to build the second stage of the plant. This will cover 90% of the Russian market's demand for optical fiber. We will be able to use Russian materials to provide high-speed Internet access throughout the country», – Dmitry Chernyshenko said.

At the meeting, they discussed the inclusion of a number of infrastructure projects in the program of socio-economic development of the republic, in particular the construction of a kindergarten and the repair of roads and heating networks.
