By 2028, approximately 6 billion rubles will be allocated for the repair of federal roads in Mordovia
On June 18, a working meeting was held at the House of the Republic between Artem Zdunov, Head of the Republic of Mordovia, and Ilnur Nurmukhametov, Head of the Federal State Institution “Volgo‑Vyatskupravtodor”. The discussion focused on bringing federal public roads passing through the territory of Mordovia and under the jurisdiction of “Volgo‑Vyatskupravtodor” into compliance with regulatory standards. These include the following highways: M‑5 “Ural”— the approach to the city of Saransk; R‑158 “Nizhny Novgorod — Arzamas — Saransk — Issa — Penza — Saratov”; and R‑178 “Saransk — Surskoe — Ulyanovsk”. Since March 27, 2026, these federal roads have been transferred to the operational management of “Volgo‑Vyatskupravtodor”.
This year, road works are planned for an amount exceeding 1.1 billion rubles. Of this, nearly 600 million rubles will be used for road and bridge maintenance and ongoing design work. Slightly more than 125 million rubles will be spent on installing a noise‑insulating screen, and about 420 million rubles are earmarked for the routine repair of the M‑5 “Ural” highway. In total, 26.4 km of federal highways in the republic are scheduled for repair this year.
Over the entire period from 2026 to 2028, it is planned to bring 208 km of road surface into compliance with regulatory standards — this accounts for 58 % of the total length of federal roads in Mordovia (which is 354 km). 5.85 billion rubles have been allocated for these purposes.
