CELEBRATION OF THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CANONIZATION OF FEDOR USHAKOV IS HELD IN MORDOVIA
On August 4-5, events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the canonization of the great naval commander Fyodor Ushakov are being held in Mordovia.
Fyodor Ushakov was canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church as a locally venerated saint of the Diocese of Saransk and Mordovia. At the same time, the holy relics of the legendary admiral were found in the Sanaksar monastery.
The Acting Head of the Republic of Mordovia Artem Zdunov noted that the events dedicated to the canonization of the naval commander have been held in Mordovia since January and will continue until the end of the year.
Many guests came to the holiday, including Vasily Piskarev, a State Duma deputy from Mordovia, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, representatives of the Russian Navy, clergy, as well as Mordovian community from different regions.
