Head of Mordovia: “We Are Open to Expanding Partnership with Uzbekistan”
The Mordovia delegation, led by the region’s head, Artem Zdunov, is working in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The work programme kicked off on 20 August with a bilateral business forum.
“We have come to Uzbekistan with an open heart and clear intentions: to strengthen cooperation ties on mutually beneficial terms. I am confident that the business forum will become an effective platform for direct dialogue, for finding reliable partners, and for launching concrete joint projects,” Artem Zdunov said at the forum’s opening.
The Republic of Uzbekistan is one of Mordovia’s key foreign trade partners in Central Asia. Recent years’ dynamics demonstrate increased business activity: since 2022, the foreign trade turnover has grown 2.5‑fold. Mordovia exports sugar and confectionery products, rubber, plastics, aluminium, glass, railway locomotives, and electrical equipment to Uzbekistan. In turn, Uzbek manufacturers supply the republic with high‑quality zinc and knitwear.
The Head of Mordovia noted that this year the republic has once again entered the TOP‑10 of leaders in the National Rating of the Investment Climate in Russian Regions. The region offers favourable conditions for doing business: there is a special economic zone, tax preferences are provided, and investors receive administrative support.
“We are open to partnership and are ready to provide full support to Uzbek companies interested in implementing joint projects in Mordovia,” said Artem Zdunov. “On behalf of the entire republic, I would like to thank our Uzbek partners for the warm welcome, for their active interest in our region, and for their readiness for constructive dialogue. I am confident that the outcomes of today’s forum will help strengthen friendly ties and contribute to the prosperity of our peoples. I wish all participants fruitful negotiations, interesting meetings, and successful agreements.”
Representatives of leading industrial and agro‑industrial enterprises of Mordovia are taking part in the business forum; eight contracts and cooperation agreements have been signed.
