KazanForum: Head of Mordovia and Head of the Volga‑Vyatka Directorate of the Bank of Russia Discuss the Republic’s Financial Sector

Head of Mordovia Artem Zdunov and Head of the Volga‑Vyatka Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia Andrey Popov discussed issues related to the current economic situation in the republic during a meeting at the Russia–Islamic World: KazanForum international forum. The meeting was attended by Natalya Tarkayeva, First Deputy Chairperson of the Government of Mordovia, and Marat Sharifullin, Manager of the Branch — National Bank for the Republic of Tatarstan of the Volga‑Vyatka Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia.

In light of the instruction from Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase the capitalisation of the stock market, the topic of developing the regional financial market has become particularly important. Andrey Popov noted that the republic’s enterprises have the potential to enter the equity financing market (IPO). In turn, an increase in the number of regional companies raising capital on the public market will have a positive impact on the republic’s budget.

It was noted that an important area of the Bank of Russia’s activities is increasing the availability of financial services in rural areas. A project called “Rural Office” is being implemented in Mordovia. With the help of a specially equipped computer workstation with internet access, residents can use state and financial services: access the State Services portal, make payments and transfers, pay taxes and utility bills, etc. The first five rural offices have already been opened in districts of Mordovia. The project is planned to be scaled up.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation on all the issues discussed.
