MORDOVIA AND CHINA PLAN TO DEVELOP THE PRODUCTION OF FIBER FROM INDUSTRIAL HEMP
On September 26, a delegation from Mordovia, led by Artem Zdunov, met with representatives from a company in the light industry sector in the province of Hangzhou. They discussed the implementation of a joint project to establish industrial hemp fiber production in the republic.
The cultivation of this crop is a highly relevant direction in agriculture today. This year, farmers in the region have increased their output by one and a half times, sowing over 2,000 hectares of hemp. It is worth noting that before 1991, the area of such crops in Mordovia exceeded 30,000 hectares.
A year ago, a Chinese company became interested in this field, which initiated a joint pilot project for processing industrial hemp and producing fiber.
The parties discussed the establishment of a full-cycle enterprise for the production and processing of industrial hemp in Mordovia. The investment cost of the project is 7 billion rubles.
