Mordovia and India develop cooperation

Nikhilesh Giri, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of India in Russia, is on a working visit to Mordovia. Together with the Mordovian team — members of the Republic's Government, university leadership, and industrialists — humanitarian cooperation, the implementation of joint business projects, and the expansion of exports were discussed.

It is worth noting that Mordovia and India enjoy strong, friendly partnership relations. Particularly robust cooperation has been established in the fields of education and humanitarian ties. For over 10 years, Mordovia State University named after Ogarev has been educating students from India. Currently, about 1,000 Indian students are pursuing their degrees at MSU. Extensive work is underway to teach Indian students the Russian language, and a Russian Language Center has been opened. MSU graduates demonstrate exceptionally high results on the qualifying exam required to obtain a medical license in India — one of the best indicators among universities in Russia.

It was noted that scientific cooperation is also developing between Mordovia and India — MSU named after Ogarev is linked to Indian organizations through eight cooperation agreements. Great attention is paid to sports for international students. The Student Cricket League of Russia has been established, and an all-Russian student sports festival among foreign students has been held.

There are significant opportunities for expanding cooperation between Mordovia and India in the areas of economy and industrial partnership, as well as the implementation of joint projects within the special economic zone.

Nikhilesh Giri noted the warmth with which the embassy representatives were received in Saransk. He emphasized that next year marks the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and India. "There is mutual understanding between the heads of our states, Vladimir Putin and Mr. Narendra Modi, that we should develop our relations, including in the economic sphere," said the Deputy Head of Mission.

The Deputy Head of Mission highlighted the excellent conditions for students and the modern infrastructure of MSU named after Ogarev, as well as promising fields for prospective students — pharmacy, nanotechnology, and veterinary medicine. A conference with rectors of Russian and Indian universities was discussed, along with Days of Indian Cinema and a Day of Indian Culture in the Republic of Mordovia.

"We highly value our good and reliable cooperation. Our business community indicates that there are enormous opportunities for collaboration in the areas of cable products, railcar manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals," Artem Zdunov emphasized in his channel on Max, underscoring the importance of bilateral cooperation. "Most importantly, we have trust in each other, and that is built up over years and even decades. Therefore, we will continue our joint work."
