Mordovia has reached a new record for the number of SMEs and self-employed
According to the results of the first quarter of 2025, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises in Mordovia reached 26,064. A record figure was also noted for the number of self-employed. According to the results of the reporting period, there were 33,912 of them in the region. Stable growth is ensured by the implementation of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy" and numerous government support measures that businesses receive.
The highest number of SMEs in the first quarter of this year was also noted in the country as a whole - over 6.7 million entities.
"The small and medium-sized business sector in Russia continues to develop and grow consistently. In the first quarter of 2025, the increase reached more than 118 thousand companies and individual entrepreneurs. Today, businesses are actively involved in the implementation of resource- and knowledge-intensive projects, including the development and creation of unmanned aerial vehicles, the implementation of space programs, and manufactures products within the framework of import substitution," - emphasized Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.
Currently, about two thirds of SMEs operate as individual entrepreneurs. As of April 2025, more than 4.42 million individual entrepreneurs are registered in Russia, and over 2.28 million of legal entities.
With a high key rate for development, it is critical for small and medium businesses to have access to preferential loan financing, according to the SME Corporation. In addition to such traditional SME industries as trade, logistics, and restaurant business, according to the results of the first quarter, an increase in the number of entrepreneurs is noted in the computer software development segment - 6% raise.
“We focused our development tools specifically on priority industries that form the supply-side economy when forming the Corporation's product portfolio. Preferential programs have already been launched for high-tech companies, MTC, enterprises in the machine tool industry and robotics, as well as in tourism and light industry. We are preparing to launch special programs for residents of special economic zones and SMEs from single-industry towns,” - said Alexander Isaevich.
