Mordovia is ready to expand its exports to Uzbekistan

On May 15, on the sidelines of the International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: Kazan Forum," Artem Zdunov, Head of Mordovia, met with Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan is one of Mordovia's key partners in Central Asia. Over the past four years, trade between the regions has grown more than 2.5 times, reaching almost $20 million by the end of 2025.

"Last year, we significantly increased our exports of plastic and aluminum products, and also launched new exports: pharmaceuticals and poultry. Also in 2025, we began shipping confectionery from Mordovia to the Uzbek market," noted Artem Zdunov. "Our partnership has great potential. We are open to new joint projects and are ready to expand our exports and discuss the creation of joint ventures."

Industrial cooperation is an important area. Mordovia companies are opening representative offices in Uzbekistan and planning to expand their presence.

Developing humanitarian and educational cooperation is of great importance. N.P. Ogarev Moscow State University has 11 active agreements with Uzbek universities, and Uzbek students study in Saransk.

Jamshid Khodjaev noted that Uzbekistan intends to maintain and increase the pace of cooperation with Russia, which has been and remains a strategic partner and reliable ally of the republic. "As you know, our trade is growing, and we have interesting joint projects. We have separate agreements with each region of Russia," he said.

A business mission from the Republic of Mordovia to Uzbekistan is planned for 2026. It is focused on developing interregional ties, and cooperation agreements are expected to be signed.
