Mordovia plans to expand trade with Islamic countries

On May 14, Artem Zdunov, Head of Mordovia, met with Yousef Hassan Halawi, Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (Saudi Arabia), at the 17th International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum."

The head of Mordovia emphasized that interaction with Islamic countries is of great importance to the republic. The geography of its partners has expanded: in addition to traditional cooperation with the CIS countries, Mordovia is working with Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.

In 2025, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan remained the republic's key partners. The highest growth in trade turnover was recorded with Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. Plans include achieving comparable levels of cooperation with other Islamic countries.

Pharmaceuticals, fiber cement products, solar modules, and agricultural products were on the discussion agenda.

"I'm glad you invited us," said the Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development. "68 countries in the Islamic world are part of a large trade cluster. Economic ties are currently actively developing. The products of the Republic of Mordovia are renowned for their high quality. I believe that through joint efforts, we can develop new options for mutually beneficial cooperation."

"We are ready to collaborate on certification of our products and further participation in major exhibitions," said Artem Zdunov.
