Mordovia plans to launch a production facility for manufacturing mould sets for the glass and machine‑building industries

On 10 June, at the House of the Republic, the project of a high‑tech full‑cycle production complex for the manufacture of mould sets and spare parts made of cast iron and bronze for the glass and machine‑building industries was presented to the Head of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov. The production is planned to be launched on the territory of the “Sistema” Special Economic Zone and the “Svetotekhnika” Industrial Park.

As noted by Vladimir Arutyunov, General Director of the Glass Decor Group of Companies, the new plant will enable a full cycle of manufacturing high‑precision components. Sergey Ageev, Executive Director of SK Development LLC and RSK Glass Decor LLC, added that currently 95 % of the Russian market’s demand for mould sets for glass‑forming machines (used for producing hollow items and glass containers), as well as for other castings, is met by foreign suppliers. Once the high‑tech production line is launched, the facility is expected to reach a capacity of 600 mould sets per year, which will help cover about a quarter of the domestic market’s needs. Moreover, the delivery time for the products will be significantly reduced, which will have a positive impact on the final cost for consumers.

It was noted that the range of products offered will benefit not only manufacturers of glass containers and glassware but will also allow producing highly precise parts with automated processes for the machine‑building industry. These include, for example, brake discs, parts with complex geometries, specialised fasteners, and other items for which Russian manufacturers have a high demand.

The project is planned to be implemented by 2028, and it will create around 100 new jobs.
