SPIEF-2024: CONSUMER COOPERATION WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL AREAS
On June 6th, at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, the Head of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov, met with Dmitry Zubov, the Chairman of the Council of the Central Union of the Russian Federation. According to the press service of the Head of the Republic of Mordovia, the meeting discussed the model of cooperative development in the region.
“For the Republic of Mordovia, the development of consumer and agricultural cooperation is of great importance,” noted Artem Zdunov. “Cooperation in rural areas allows for the creation of new jobs and provides rural residents with income from leasing their produce through the consumer cooperation system.”
Consumer cooperation is a socially oriented system of economic development for territories, providing employment opportunities for the population, and developing regional infrastructure. Agricultural consumer cooperatives, established by farmers and individual household plots, contribute to solving issues such as difficulties in selling produce and unequal access to markets compared to large companies. This also includes low prices for sold products and high prices for purchased resources.
