SPIEF-2024: MORDOVIA IMPLEMENTS GENOMIC SELECTION IN LIVESTOCK BREEDING
On June 7, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Head of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov, met with representatives of the Innopractice company. According to the press service of the Head of the Republic of Mordovia, the discussion focused on the development of cooperation with the republic.
One of the main areas of cooperation is the implementation of genomic selection in dairy cattle breeding in Mordovia. Representatives of the company have already held a series of meetings with the regional Ministry of Agriculture and the heads of breeding farms in the republic.
It is worth noting that 19 organizations from Mordovia have been included in the state breeding register. The total number of pedigree cattle in the republic's farms is currently 68,000 head, with an average productivity of 9,500 kilograms per year.
