SPIEF 2025: Republic of Mordovia signs agreement with Russian Environmental Operator
On June 19, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, the Head of Mordovia, Artyom Zdunov, held a meeting with Irina Tarasova, CEO of the Russian Environmental Operator.
PPK REO is a strategic partner of the Republic of Mordovia in the field of municipal solid waste management. With the support of the Russian Environmental Operator, the region is implementing important infrastructure projects. The construction of a large innovative waste sorting complex is being completed - the project is being implemented under a concession agreement, and a federal subsidy of 1.2 billion rubles has been received for it. The complex will process 180,000 tons of MSW per year, as well as produce more than 50,000 tons of alternative fuels for use in cement production.
A new modern landfill with an organic fraction composting line will also be built in the republic.
The implementation of these projects will make it possible to halve the amount of waste sent to landfills and thereby reduce the negative impact on the environment. Mordovia was one of the first regions to introduce a new waste management system.
At the meeting, an agreement was signed between the Republic of Mordovia and the Russian Environmental Operator, which is aimed at improving work in the field of municipal solid waste management.
"I am confident that through joint efforts we will be able to create modern waste treatment and disposal facilities in Mordovia using the most efficient and affordable technologies that ensure the maximum possible involvement of secondary resources in economic turnover," said Artyom Zdunov.
