TWO NEW MODELS OF ALUMINUM ROLLING STOCK WERE PRESENTED IN MORDOVIA
In Mordovia, RM Rail presented new products made of aluminum alloys: a tank car for concentrated nitric acid and a tank container for transporting liquefied natural gas. According to the website rmrail.ru, both models surpass existing analogues in key parameters.
The tank car for concentrated nitric acid model 15-1232-05 is made of aluminum alloy model 1407 with high corrosion resistance in aggressive environments, comparable to pure aluminum, while exceeding it in strength by more than two times. Reducing the wall thickness made it possible to lighten the structure up to 21.4 tons (- 3.6 tons in comparison with analogues) and increase the load capacity up to 78.6 tons (+ 3.6 tons) with an axial load of 25 vehicle. The volume of the boiler has been expanded to 61.8 cubic meters (+7 cubic meters in comparison with analogues). The service life of the tank is 40 years.
Tank container for transportation and storage of liquefied natural gas AKC-SPG42.7 is made of aluminum alloy model 1581; similar to the composition from which the hopper-mineral carrier is made. It was presented in the spring of this year. Key advantages: the extended service life of the structure is 30 years (+10 years in comparison with analogues); a reduction in the weight of containers to 12.2 tons (-15%); increased reliability due to the use of advanced welding technologies. Technical solutions in terms of fixing the inner vessel allowed to increase its volume to 42.7 cubic meters (+2.7 cubic meters in comparison with existing steel analogues produced in Russia).
